Hello, my name is Rusty. I can help you. Let's start from scratch. Are you seeing banks of keys going bad, or is it just random keys? This will help me determine what is wrong.
4 yr old yamaha ydp 140 piano: specific upper range keys starting on right side going to the left b, f & b, f & b do not produce sound in any voice.
Ok, that's not your keys. That is a problem with your circuitry on your tone generator. It makes all of your sounds, and it sounds like F & B on the upper end have gone out. Are you able to solder near sensitive electronics? If not, I can tell you where to get it repaired. It's not too expensive.
yes i probably can handle the solder job, have some electronic experience many years ago, way before miniture printed ciricutry. heathkit stereo days, 45 yrs ago. i am very willing to try.
Ok, you will need a vacuum desoldering tool. I will need some time to locate the schematic. I warn you, the circuitry is very small, with some DNA processing. This is at your own risk, and I recommend a qualified Yamaha Service Center.
very small !!! mabe to small for me to try. who might u recomend? zip in closest large town " lafayette la." is 70506
I always try to get people to take them to the authorized centers. Once you touch your soldering iron to it, it heats up another piece and breaks it, and so on. Yamaha has the right tools go get it done. Electronics are so complicated once they go digital. The good news is, I found a specialist that is only a few miles from you. You're in luck. Lafayette Music Co. Inc. handles your specific model. They are recommended by Yamaha for the Arius model pianos, just like yours.Lafayette Music Co. Inc.3700 Johnston StLafayette, LA 70503337-984-3700Take a look at the inside if you can, while they have it open. You'll see the digital electronics.
