Have a C3 with a rumble in the speakers. It was intermitant but now its constant. What would be the most likely component that needs to be replaced?
Already Tried: nothing
Is it the Leslie speaker? If so, they need to be oiled (JUST A DROP OR TWO!!) about once a year. If it is the regular speakers, one of them could have a torn paper cone. This will cause a rattling type of sound. If you can visually inspect them and the look good, then it is probably the power amplifier. If you are going to attempt the repair yourself, I can try and locate a service manual for you.
I don't see anything on the speaker cabinet that indicates it is a Leslie. The plate in the cabinet says HR40 serial#83726. There are oil tubes on the left side covered with a cloth sock and the y have long springs going down thru them. Where would I get oil for a Hammond Organ and whereis a supplier for rebuilt pwr amps for something built in 1957. Thanks Mark.

I will get back to you tonight have to work a bit. I'm in the Pacific time zone, so it will be about 7 or so PST. I'll find you a source for a power amp. Meanwhile, I would physically feel the speaker cones and visually inspect them for damage.
I'm changing this to Q & A mode.
Experience: I have built and serviced hundreds of electronic musical instruments.

But if you keep searching, you'll find one. Ebay is not always the best for things like that. Here are a couple of sources to check with:Parts:http://www.bborgan.com/http://www.theatreorgans.com/hammond/faq/shopservman/Parts/Parts_Suppliers.htmhttp://halfmoonelectronics.com/ Hammond oil can be found here: (an 8 year supply is 9 bucks, a little goes a LONG way!) http://bborgan.com/hammond-generator-oil.htmlI would get the service manual first, spend a little time with it, do some testing and diagnostics, and then go shopping. Good Luck! Thanks for the accept!
