Customer Question

I have a new dishwasher with black and white cables, but the old one had red, white, and green cables. I'm assuming I connect the white to white. Do I connect the red to black or green to black? And what do I do with the remaining cable?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the make and model of your dishwasher? And have you run a diagnostic test cycle?
Customer: Old or new dishwasher?
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you with your electrical question.

1) Are the wires for the electrical connection from the house wires to the DW wires?

2) What are the house wire colors and what are the DW wire colors?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
House wires are red, white, and green. DW wires are black and white.

Thanks for confirming.

1) The red and the black are the hot wires. Splice these together.

2) The 2 whites are the neutral wires. Splice these together.

3) Terminate the house green ground wire to the DW frame or splice it to the DW ground wire. The DW frame should contain a green ground screw near the wire splice compartment.
