We changed the outlets in the kitchen & when we turned them

we changed the outlets in the kitchen & when we turned them back on, the outlets & lights on the same circuit in the den no longer work. it is not because of the tabs on the new outlets as they have been removed. please help!

hi this is John and will be glad to help........are you talking about the tabs that are between the screws of the outlets? if so then yes this could be the reason for the power not working......the tabs on the outlets on the hot and neutral sides act as a jumper to continue the power through the circuit. assuming there were at least two wires (two black and two white) in the boxes then by cutting the tabs you broke the circuit.

if you did cut the tabs, then the best solution would be to replace outlets without the tabs being cut.
