Installing a GE Treviso ceiling fan. Lights work but fan motor doesn't. How can I troubleshoot the problem?

I'm an Android user, don't know. Might try one other thing. Look on the fan for a direction switch and make sure it is fully in either direction.

I checked online for the fan instructions. It is shown with a receiver for the remote in the canopy. The unit is powered on the black and white. There are 3 leads into the fan. Black, blue and white. To have the light working the blue and white are connected. The black on the receiver output is either not connected or the fan is defective. Check those connections.
