Customer Question

7 apt building has 8 meters 8 panels split into 2 #4 service risers. What size risers and wire size should be used if remodeling ?
JA: I'll do all I can to help. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so we can help you best.
Customer: The meters panels and service risers are being replaced. All the meters and panels are together in outside closet
JA: Is there anything else the Electrician should be aware of?
Customer: Riser Conduit size, wire sizes, ground wire sizes. The utility required a main breaker be added where there was none originally
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Electrician about your situation and then connect you two.

Welcome to www.justanswer.comI will be glad to answer your question. I need more info though.1) What kind & how much electrical work was performed as part of the remodeling?
2) We're circuits added to each apartment- number & size?
3) What size is the main breaker on the panel for each apartment and wI'll they remain unchanged?Thank you
Customer: replied 5 months ago.
no electrical additions were made. each of the panels contained a 60 amp main breaker, these will remain unchanged. 4 meters/panels are connected to each of the 2 original service risers.a car crashed into the closet destroying everything. all meter sockets and panels will be new. the city is in Gardena California. the utility set min. and max. meter and riser height.

Assuming 120/240 Single-Phaser Service each of the two risers should be 100 Amp. 3 each #4 in each riser in a 1 1/4 inch conduit. This is per 220.84 in NEC. Some local/utility codes have different requirements. Always check with these local agencies to assure compliance.

Above should be Single-Phase. #4 above should be copper. I'd aluminum use #2
Expert:  ProGrade replied 5 months ago.
