I have an single phase 220v motor that was instant reversing. It no longer instant reveveres but does reverse if I stop it and restart it. What would cause tghe change?

Hi I think what part you are describing is called the strike and sometimes they do get stuck because of a spring that might hang up can try a little WD-40 spray and if that doesn't work then you might want to change it ..............but if you can send along some pictures I want to make sure it is the right mechanism we are talking about
