I AM WORKING ON A CUMMINS-ONAN GENSET. THE FIELD BREAKER TRIPS JUST AS THE GENERATOR STARTS TO PRODUCE VOLTAGE. MOTOR CONTINUES TO RUN BUT BREAKER TRIPS AGAIN.

Hello, you need a clamp around type amp meter to check the amperage draw at the breaker before it trips in order to determine if its a bad breaker, tripping prematurely, or a dead short somewhere in the attached circuit.

$30 at harbor freight and $50 at a big box home repair store for a clamp around meter that will work at least.
