Have 2 wire in ceiling and new light has 3 wire. Old had 2

Customer Question

Have 2 wire in ceiling and new light has 3 wire. Old had 2 brown that were connected to white and black plus ground. New light has 3 wires plus ground. They are not colored. One is separate and one is double wire that splits similar to the one I took off. Which goes to the current white and black. Do I combine or just use nut on 3 rd wire.

Hi, I'm Mike G and I'll be glad to assist you. The cable with the 2 wires will have one edge ribbed. The wire on that side is the white wire, the other is the black. The individual wire is the ground to the lower end of the fixture and the other is a ground for the canopy.
