Turned on my generac 7000exl generator to power a few

turned on my generac 7000exl generator to power a few essentials after the power went out due to a storm. it was connecteed properly via transfer inlet and subpanel. started turning on breaker and my kitchen GFCI outlet fried. How? My generator is 10 years old. serviced. how or why did it fry my outlet along with water heater??? second question, do i have any recourse with generac?

Hi, I'm Mike G and I'll be glad to assist you. The problem you described make me think you have a bad neutral connection. When that happens one phase spikes voltage and the other drops it. Check your neutrals.
