I'm replacing a wired door chime and the old was already removed

Customer Question

I'm replacing a wired door chime and the old was already removed so the wires aren't labeled. There are 2 sets of wires: 1 set is 2 wires - black and white and the other set is 2 wires - black and white. At one point I had it making noise but the problem was the chime was constantly "dinging" which is obviously not what I want. I understand how to strip them and thread them through the holes; my question is what wires do I connect to which screw?

Hi, I'm Mike and I'll be glad to assist you. How many door buttons do you have?

Just one - the front door

Connect whites together. They don't terminate on the chime. The connect one black to the common terminal and the other black to the front terminal.
