Want to hook up a MinkaAire WCS212. It has a green ground

Customer Question

Want to hook up a MinkaAire WCS212. It has a green ground and two black one for lights one for fan. My existing rocker switch has ground and a red with white stripe and two other reds which are together on the same terminal. Instructions say not to connect white to the Minka. Do I just cap white?

Welcome. My name is ***** ***** would be glad to assist.

Some details are needed to proceed.

1. This rocker switch, does it have wire leads connecting to the house wires?

Trying to understand this red with white stripe you reference as house wiring does not have striped wires only solid colors

2. Have you installed the ceiling receiver yet?
What wires were connected to it in the fan canopy?

Let me know and we can continue,
Thanks

Yes it has two solid red wires going to the lower part of the rocker switch and then a single red with white stripe which I believe is the hot normally white wire. It is a rocker switch.

Ok,

I am still not understanding, sorry.

Details make a difference in electrical wiring. Lets do it this way.

"Yes it has two solid red wires going to the lower part of the rocker switch "
The red wires are the house wiring or the switch?

"and then a single red with white stripe which I believe is the hot normally white wire".
This is the switch wire or house wiring again?

What does, normally white mean?

I need the exact wiring from the switch box to the existing switch, wire for wire and whether the switch has screws or wires.

If it has wires, what color wires does it connect to from the house?

Post a picture if possible and I can review very quickly

Thanks
