Mike, its "split circuit" man again. If the split circuit

This answer was rated:

Mike, it's "split circuit" man again. If the split circuit is all 12 wire, and it's for ceiling fixtures and outlets in bedrooms, what determines if the double breaker is 15 AMP or 20 AMP breakers?

AssuredElectrical :

Something else pop up?

Customer:

Yes. If the split circuit is all 12 wire, to ceiling fixtures & outlets in bedrooms, what determines whether I should put 15 AMP or 20 AMP breakers on the double pole breaker?

AssuredElectrical :

The wire size dictates the breaker size. #14 wire miust have a 15 amp, #12 is good for 20 amps.

AssuredElectrical :

You dont have to put a 20 on #12, but it would be wasting 5 extra amps not doing so.

Customer:

Thanks.

AssuredElectrical :

no problem, always best to verify. thanks
