Hello, I am installing a remote control in a ceiling fan and the wire colors do not match up to the interactions given. I have a black and white coming from the ceiling going into "quick clips" on the remote. On the other side of the remote I have a green, white (to motor N), black (to motor L) and blue (for light). Coming from the fan I have a black, white, black/white, and green. Coming from the wall switch which has a fan and light control there are red (light), yellow (fan), and black (hot). I tried going color to color with both the exception of the blue and the black/white to the red but that didn't work. How should this be connected? Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to JA!!

Customer:

hi

Kevin :

Does this remote setup have a handheld remote, and a switch that replaces the existing wall switch?

Customer:

Just the hand held remote.

Customer:

The switch has two sliders, one for the fan and one for the light.

Kevin :

It was existing?

Customer:

Yes

Kevin :

Ok, that slider switch will not work with your remote

Customer:

Ah, so it's one or the other.

Kevin :

Yep. Or you can buy a different remote that has a wall switch with it

Kevin :

Or you need to replace the slider with a plain standard wall switch

Customer:

I think that's what I'll have to do. I just know at some point I'll be looking for the remote and wish I had a wall switch. Do you have any recommendations as far as remotes go?

Kevin :

yep. stand by

Kevin :

the switch in the picture replaces your slider switch, then it or the remote control the light or fan. I like this unit because it also can dim the light

Kevin :

keep in mind, with this unit, you can not use flourescent bulbs though

Customer:

Kevin, thanks very much. You've saved me some time for sure!

Customer:

I appreciate it.
