Hello, and welcome to JA!!

Kevin :

How long have you had the mower, and how long have you had this issue?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
About three years. I just started having this issue last week.
Expert:  Kevin replied 3 years ago.
Since the battery does hold a small charge after charging, it is likely not to be the charger. It sounds like you have a faulty battery. 3 years is about the life expectancy of a large rechargeable battery. Try a new one, but hold on to your receipt so you can return it if necessary.

So the battery could be faulty?
Expert:  Kevin replied 3 years ago.
That is the most likely scenario. Definitely what you should try first.

What is the best source for mower batteries other than Sears of course?
Expert:  Kevin replied 3 years ago.
I would check ebay first. They would be cheaper than sears
