Customer Question

I have a two speed dayton fan motor model 4m197. The fan originally had an in-line, two-speed switch (off, low, high). The switch is no longer around. There are four wires to the motor: green, black, white, red. I went to an electrical supply shop and the counter clerk sold me a single-pole, double-throw switch (20 amp rating). How do come into the switch with three wires from the plug and out to the fan with the four wires?

Ok, using the single pole double throw switch, you are aware that you will not have an on and off with it since it can only set high or low speed?

You will need another switch for on and off with the power.
The best way around all of this is to get a double pole double throw switch with center off position.
That way the same switch will control Low-Off-High.
Just some information you should know.41104.0534439468
