Welcome. My name is XXXXX XXXXX would be glad to assist.
Is it the fan running or the heater blower?
Are they on separate switches?
The heater fan is blowing. It is on the same switch as the element.
Ok, did the elements wire into place with wire nuts? Or does it have a plug connection?
It has plug connection.
Ok, does the blower have a plug connection also? Next to the element plug?
It wires in series with the element.
I thought you said the element plugged into a receptacle in the fan housing?
It does. The plug has four wires. The power goes in #1 and out #4 with a jumper between #2 and #3.
Did you do any wiring or just plug in a new element?
Iplugged in the new element. No other wiring was done.
Is this what the wiring looks like?
No. It runs through both the fan and then through the element. I am a retired electrician . It is running through the element to the return.
Can you verify the model, Nutone nor Broan does not list an 865 unit
Normally they are parallel wired not series
It was listed as Nutone 865. The element I received from Nutone part number 97016565. The number on the newer units now sold are different.
The part was ordered directly from Nutone?
Ok, I am trying right now and they dont have an 865 for parts ordering. Will try others
Nope, they say you must have numbers and letters
They do not even show the 97016565 as a part in search
Let me look for the instructions tha came with it. I've thrown the box away.
I wanted to verify that the unit is not parallel wired. Never seen a series as it does not provide 120 volt
I found a 655 and 657 and they wire parallel
The model is 765HL
This is a 765HL.
