You are corresponding with JOSEPH (The Electrical Doctor) - Your "Personal On-Line Electrical Professional Consultant".You purchase a whole house surge protector. So your best bet is to place this at the main electrical Panel and wire it in there. This will protect your circuits in that panel. ____________________________________________________________________**Please Read Before Proceeding**If you are satisfied and have all your questions answered to your full understanding, please go ahead and rate my answer. Too complicated for me
Heres the problem, this is intended to protect 240v/120v systems. So wiring this only into 120v will not work. You can still get the same protection by wiring this into the main panel and installing this on a double pole 20amp breaker. By wiring this into the panel the black and red wires connect to the breaker, and the white and green wires connect to the neutral/ground bar. **********Please Read Before ProceedingRemember: Please do not rate my answer until all of your questions have been answered to your full understanding. Soooooo
You do have another option and that is this: You can buy a TVSS Outlet which acts like a gfci. You incoming line from the panel comes to the line side of the surge outlet and wiring the rest of the outlets from the load side protects the outlets through the suge outlet. Does this make sense? **********Please Read Before ProceedingRemember: Please do not rate my answer until all of your questions have been answered to your full understanding. Maybe it is too much for my level of expertise
If you can install an outlet and run wiring like you have, you can definately do this. Now here is an example of the surge supression outlet at Lowes. On the back of this outlet, you will see an input side and an output side. The input side comes from the panel and the rest of the wires connect to the load side. This will protect all the outlets on that string. Does this help?**********Please Read Before ProceedingRemember: Please do not rate my answer until all of your questions have been answered to your full understanding.
