I can go buy one later
Ok what you need to get is a non contact tester. This is what you need in order to be able to figure this out. They have these at lowes and home depot for about $10. When you get it, let me know and I will walk you through what you need to do. **********Please be patient as I continue to ask questions. OK
.
sorry it took so long but i am ready to get this show on the road
Ok take the non contact test and place it next to each wire. When you place it next to the "hot" wire, the tester will either glow, beep or both. When you have found the hot wire, mark it, move it to the side and let me know. **********Please be patient as I continue to ask questions. Does it do that next to one of the wires and not the other? **********Please be patient as I continue to ask questions. Its the only way for me to understand your situation, and offer you the best solution possible.Sunday, June 24, 2012 4:42:00 PM
I put it up to both of them and one of them went crazy and the other one did not
Good the one where it went crazy is your hot wire. Now tell me how many wires your fan has and what colors they are. **********Please be patient as I continue to ask questions. Black and white, blue for the lights and green for the ground
Ok you will take the black and blue wires and connect that to the one where your tester went crazy. Then take the white wire and connect that to the other wire. If your box has a grounding wire, you will connect the green to that. If not, then put a cap on it and push it off to the side. **********Please Read Before ProceedingRemember: Please do not rate my answer until all of your questions have been answered to your full understanding.
