Do you have volt Meter with two probes?
How many and what color wires are in the Switch box?

Customer replied 290 days and 6 hours ago.

One Black and one White wire. The Volt meter has one red and one black.

Is there any bare or green wire in the box? Is the box metal?

Customer replied 290 days and 6 hours ago.

No bare wire in the switch box. Metal box. Bare wire at the place where the lighting fixture goes, where the wires come out of the wall.

Here's what I have.Replacing bathroom lighting fixture. Pull the old light..six wire comming out of the wall: 2 wt 2bk 2 bare/grnd. If i hook the light to one set. it stays on all the time. These wires have power. If I hook to the other ste: no power. Thought switch migh be bad. pulled the switch out...no power to those wires at the switch.

If you look in the ceiling box you have 2 sets of wires. Each with black , white and bare. Is that correct?

Customer replied 290 days and 6 hours ago.

Yes....

One of the sets should have power between black and white. Can you identify which set is hot?

Customer replied 290 days and 6 hours ago.

Yes one set is hot...but it can't be the set connected to the Light Switch because the switch is pulled out and the wires are hanging loose out of the wall. These wire at the switch are not hot...but one set at the fixture is.

Now splice black from Hot Wire together with the white wire from another set and cap off.
Splice black from light fixture together with black black from non hot wire set. Splice white from light together with white from hot set. Let me know if you have more questions.
