I have a 200 amp serv to the house and a 200 amp serv at my shop. Want to serve the shop from the house as it is no longer used much. Already have #2 cable underground stubbed out at both boxes. Want to pull the shop meter and run from the house serv with maybe a shutoff in between. The shop Box is approx 160 ft from the house serv.
Hi, I'm Mike and I'll be glad to assist you. Is the total run 160 or 220 feet? How many wires and their sizes?Mike G.41051.0346190625
Is the wire copper or aluminum?
total run is 160 ft 100ft is already undergrond and stubbed out at the house box It is Alcon B #2 alum with a #4 ground wire
How many wires exactly? A sub feed run requires 4 wires.
3 wire cable--2 #2 & a#4 grnd.
I hope it's in pipe. You'll need to run another #4 wire for the ground. The calculation for the the distance and voltage drop is 80 Amps. I assume that you have a ground rod at the shops old service.
