Hello, is the Switch 3 way or single pole?
Was that switch existing?
Please give me little more information so I can help.

Customer replied 340 days ago.

It is a three way. The light is a two wire (blk/wht) and ground.

So that Was existing 3 way switch for different lights and you add light and ran wire to the switch?
How many and what color wires are in the switch box?

Customer replied 340 days ago.

1 black, 1 wht, 1 red. I did not run direct to switch. Pig tailed in the junction box. Would it be easier to run it direct to switch?

The best way is to run the wire from existing light fixture box to the new light. With the 3 way system problem is that you might have switch leg or feed in it and it sounds that you tapped in to the traveler right now that is why light goes off instead of going on.
If you have volt Meter and tell me how many and what color wires are in the junction box we might be able to use that box if not the best way is to run wire from existing light to new light.
Let me know how you want to proceed and I will farther assist you.

Ok, ran straight to switch. Still doing same thing , off when on, on when off.

I'm sorry but if you read my previous post I asked you to run the wire from existing LIGHT ( not the switch ) to the new light.
