My centripro pump control box will not start the underground well pump. Pushed reset button but does not help
hi this is john and will try and help you
have you determined that there is 240 volt at the control box
do you have a tester with two probes
i think there is also a reset on top of the well relay box located at the tank
did you check to make sure that the 2 pole breaker is on and not tripped
it must have tripped.....i would keep an eye on it and see if it happens again...it could be a sign that the pump may be going
i am hoping you meant that the pump is on
sorry.....i misunderstood
do you feel comfortable checking to see if there is power leaving the breaker
does your tester read volts or it just lights up
if you touch it to the screw the red wire is attached to does it light up....same with the blackit should light up
the screw on the breaker
if you just touched the red with one probe...it flashed!?!?!
and tripped the main
i hate to say it but without a two probe tester we can't find out if it is missing a leg, a neutral, etc. that would stop the pump from running....you say that the tester shows no power in the control box.......im wondering if the tester blew due to that flash
hang on i am reading the bottom of your post that i missed
what size breaker is in for the pump and you say that there was a twist plug that was wired wrong
so at the control box there is a black, red, white and ground ???
swiching the red and black should not have made a difference in the pumps performance...they are both hot wires....120 v each
what are the model numbers on the conrol box....i want to look the manual up for hook up
im sorry you already posted that
it is showing two hots and ground going to control panel and three wires and a ground going out (black, red, yellow, and ground)
the hots coming in are hooked to L1 and L2
coming in from the main panel
ok so you switched up the red and black going to the pump
how old is the pump......it is quite possible that one or both of the capacitors may have gone.....without a tester we wouldn't be able to determine that
it was working fine before he put the wire thru the garage wall
yes they are in the control box
i know you dont want to dig the pump up!!!!!
that makes me think that something blew during the process.....i would difinetley hold him accountable
i hope he didn't blow the pump up......i think that the problem is in the control box with the capacitors.......there is a run and a startup one
