We are a physicians office and have an ekg machine that we purchased approximately 3 and 1/2 years ago. Today out of the blue it stopped picking up the tracing of the electrical activity of the heart.
Does it come on?
yes
it is tracing but only a flat line prints
Something similar occurred about one year ago and they replaced the plug
they said these plugs can be tempermental
I would start there. Changeing the plug is a quick fix. Was the problem one year ago identical to this one. These machines have to have a good ground going to them.
I dont remember the exact details but I think it was the same problem
not sure I understand what it means to have a good ground
SHould I order a new plug or just try to keep replugging in the same one?
Try plugging it into another receptacle. A ground is the third pin on the plug it is normal the round.
ok I will try that now. If that does not work, any other suggestions?
I would suggest changing out the cord and plug if you can get to the inside to disconnect cord if not change the end. I do believe that once this is done it will work fine. I say this because this is the second time you have had this issue. Normally the cord end is molded and can't be removed. If this one allows it to be removed then it has the possibility to not have been tightened securely or because of heat it expanded then contracted and now the connection inside the cord end is loose.
Did changing receptacles work.
let me know how things turn out and if you are satisfied please hit except. You can always come back to this page and get assistance with out incurring another charge.
I tried it but it did not work
The letters *RA* are showing up at the bottom of the screen
I dont recall that being there before
Are you still available?
Typically RA refers to "right arm" in an ekg machine which I know you are aware of, it is possible there is a problem with this lead?
When electrodes are not properly applied, these
measures may not fully compensate for artifact.
High polarization voltages induced by electrodes
applied without conductive gel may cause the
amplifier to overrange, so that a straight line will be
recorded instead of the ECG (see Figure 4-6). The
device will then automatically block and return the
baseline to its normal position. A baseline is then
recorded for approx. 1 second. It is possible to block
the amplifiers manually by disconnecting the RL
electrode.
On the display this condition is indicated by ****
instead of the electrode label
Remedy
·
Apply the electrodes according to instructions.
Do not apply the electrodes on top of clothing.
Use a contact agent with reusable electrodes (e.g.moistened electrode paper, electrode cream, spray, etc.).

Wait approx. 10 seconds before initiating arecording. After the 10-second period, theautomatic functions are enabled and thepolarization voltages have stabilized, providedthe electrodes are properly applied. If required, the ADS (cubic spline) and the filters(20/40 Hz, 60 Hz) can be disabled to verify the"raw" ECG signal. I will also post what I believe is the owners/operators manual for this unit.
