My kitchen fluorescent lights just went out. The switch was on, all four tubes were working, then they just went out. I checked the breaker box, flipped all the kitchen breakers, came back in and nothing had changed. I had noticed earlier in the week that once or twice the bulbs were momentarily slow to get completely 'bright', but it wasn't a regular occurrence. I am thinking starter or ballast?
All work must be permitted and inspected. WE KEEP GOING UNTIL YOU HAVE THE INFORMATION YOU NEED. I must come and go. This is step One.Your thinking is right on the money,If the tubes are dark on the ends for an inch or more, its bad tubes though,If the tubes look good, replace the starters,if that fails then then check power to the ballasts, if you have power to the ballasts, try refitting the tubes to insure good electrical connectionsif that fails and the tubes look good, then its likely a bad ballastPhil
