(A) Dwelling Units. All 120-volt, single phase, 15- and
20-ampere branch circuits supplying outlets installed in dwelling unit family rooms, dining rooms, living rooms, parlors, libraries, dens, bedrooms, sunrooms, recreation
rooms, closets, hallways, or similar rooms or areas shall be
protected by a listed arc-fault circuit interrupter, combination-
type, installed to provide protection of the branch circuit.

is this a new law for 2011 or was it put in the books nad not adopted to2012

That is in the 2011 NEC code book when it came out January 2011

Every local jurisdiction has their own time when they adopt. Most have adopted the 2011

But the NEC book is not in enforce to the following year is that correct
