Hi, I'm Mike and I'll be glad to assist you. Take it back and get a 3 wire 240V Dryer receptacle. The device you have is the wrong one.

I see that you've read the answer and have not responded. Let me make it clearer for you.
  1. Existing 3 wire circuits may be used on new dryers.
  2. The receptacle must be a 3 wire receptacle.
  3. The cord set to the dryer will need to be a 3 wire.
  4. When making the connections of the cord set a jumper from the neutral to the frame of the unit grounds it.
  5. To use a 4 wire receptacle, you'll need to renew the circuit back to the panel with 4 wire YOU CAN'T BOOTLEG THE GROUND IN THE RECEPTACLE!
I hope the additional information make it easier to understand my answer.
