Hello. Do you have 4 wires coming from the fan, and 4 wires or terminals on the new Switch?

Do you have a volt Meter?

Customer replied 1036 days and 21 hours ago.

Yes, there are four wires from the fan green, brown, grey and black and four connections on the switch, 1,2,3,L

Yes, we have a volt meter.

Thank you for the additional information. Have you already identified the constantly Hot Wire coming from the fan? If not, please use the volt meter to do so, and then tell me what color the constantly hot wire is. There will only be one constantly hot wire. The rest of them are speed tap wires.

Customer replied 1036 days and 21 hours ago.

The black wire is the constantly hot wire. Volt meter reads120 volts.

Thank you for the additional information. Eventually, the black wire will connect to "L" on your new switch, but not yet.

Before you connect any wires to the switch, carefully touch the other wires to the black wire, one at a time, and take note of how fast the fan runs. You will need to strip the ends of all 4 wires for this test. Make sure your head is not in the path of the blades, and don't touch any bare wire with your bare hands.

Once you identify the speed tap wire that makes the fan run the fastest, connect that wire to "1" on the new switch.

Next, find the wire that makes the fan run the slowest and connect that wire to "3".

Lastly, you will have one speed tap wire remaining. That is the medium speed tap and it needs to connect to "2" on the new switch. Then connect the black wire to "L", and you should be all set.

If you find that you need additional help, please let me know.
