I am running three light fixtures between two-3way switches.

Customer Question

I am running three light fixtures between two-3way switches. I have power (14-2 w/g) into the first switchbox. I have connected the hot wire to the bottom (side with 2 terminals) and the wire going to the first fixture in the top terminal on that same side of this switch. The other side of this switch I have the red wire going to the fixture. I have the white from the power source and white from the fixture connected. From there I have 14-3 w/g running from the switchbox to each of the fixtures 1-floursant, 1- regular bulb, and 1- flourisant then on to the second and final switch box. I'm having trouble getting the wiring correct in each of the light fixtures and on to the final switchbox. Any help will be appreciated.

Already Tried:
I have done all the wiring, pulling the wire from first 3-way switch to the three fixtures and on to the final switch. I just need to know how to wire it all together so the switches will work properly.

OK...Sorry for the delay, my computer died twice on me....

Unfortunately, there are ways of solving your problem without running a new 14/3 and just adding 14/2, but I cannot see it being to code in this case because there will more than likely be too many wires in your fixture boxes....Unless you can get me the cubic inch volume of each fixture box, then I can determine for sure if it is or is not to code for the box fill.

So here is what you need to do; and it requires a new run of 14/3 directly from switchbox # XXXXX to switchbox # XXXXX from #2 you will need to run 14/2 to your fixtures.:

If you have ANY further questions in regards XXXXX XXXXX diagram, or your install, please do not hesitate to ask...Smile
