The charger not coming on, is sign that the primary circuit is not complete. What is voltage at the carts charger connection? Is it same as battery pack? It should be.

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Do you have 36 volts on both cable terminals of the solenoid?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
have 36 volts on cable ends at the solenoid, have 37.6 volts at the charger socket
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

If you have 37 volts at the charger connection, the charger should come on.?? Was charger working before?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
but these batteries are fully charged
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Where do you have the posiitve battery cable attached? And where is the negative cable attached?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Charge would come on, even if batteries are fully charged, It would not stay on long. But it would start!

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Charger

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
on the charger socket the white lead is on the positive post and the black is on the negative
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

That is right, But where do the cables off the battery pack go to?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
they go into the controller where ive got good voltage and polarity is correct, the positive lead jumps over to the solenoid
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Positive lead has to go direct to the solenoid. the resistor lets voltage cross solenoid , and then to the controller B+, Is the resistor good? Have you ran a solenoid test?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

What does charger do when plugged in? Nothing or does it run series of lights and never starts? Have you had the cover off it?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
ok this solenoid has two resistors one is across the big terminals (primary circuit) and one on the control side, this cart has always been wired this way I just put the wires back on the controller the way they came off never took anything off the solenoid,
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
this is an old power wise charger no lights just an amp needle
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

The resistor across the big terminals is right, Not sure why there would be another!

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
haven't checked resistors or the solenoid
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
this is a 2004 ez go 36 volt txt , the diagram you sent is what ive got
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
isn't what ive got sorry
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Here is Ezgo tech with trouble shooting. Scroll down the opening page until you see the test section. Do not go to the manuals,

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

WHat is different on yours, What controller do you have?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

With the car jerking and then quit, you can have a bad drive motor. I would test solenoid and do the drive motor test.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
controller 25864g09 Curtis 36volt 350 amp 5 pins
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

That is the Ezgo number fr the 1206 controller. Should be the same! 5 pins is performance option.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
correct only 4 are used

think problem is at solenoid even if I have a bad drive motor solenoid should click correct?
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Yes , the foot switch should close the solenoid.

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Charger seems to be a complete different problem.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
ok then how does the foot pedal control the speed rheostat thur the controller
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
think charger is not working , it should kick on for a second or two
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Yes, the ITS has two functions, one is to close the solenoid, second is to control speed through the signal it sends controller.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
ok then problem could be with solenoid and resistors and ITS
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Everything has to be correct, or it will not run. I would test each component, before ordering parts that I don't need.

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

Do you have a friend you could plug your charger to his cart to see if it works? That is always a quick test to see if charger is good.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I AGREE, YOUVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL WILL TEST EACH component Thanks!
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
no I'm the only one in the neighborhood with a 36 volt cart
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 8 months ago.

OK> I'm off to bed!
