I have been trying to download an update for my kindle;

I have been trying to download an update for my kindle; followed instructions and have left plugged in with wi-fi on for about 15 hours now. I still have received "07-2016 Kindle Software Updated" in my library. This is the third time I have tried. Help!
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: It is a Kindle version 3.0.2 (553210206)
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I started to trying to download the update when I was first noticed via e-mail. Each time I followed the instructions and left the unit plugged overnight with no successful download.
JA: Anything else you want the eReader expert to know before I connect you?

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.

Remove the charger from the Kindle and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.

Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the Kindle and update it
