I can't connect to wifi with my kindle.
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: It's a Kindle Paperwhite and I purchased it in July 2016.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: A few days. Have restarted device, obviously tried to connect via settings.
JA: Anything else you want the eReader expert to know before I connect you?

Does the name of your home wifi network appear in the list of available networks in the wireless menu?

Sometimes. I've tried connecting multiple times. Also complicating the situation: I have like 4 different networks. Currently one is showing up.

Try these steps please>

On your Kindle>

  • Select Wi-Fi from the menu.
  • Ensure Wireless Networking switch is in the on position.
  • A list of networks will appear. You may have to wait a moment as your Kindle
  • detects networks in range. If your network doesn't appear tap the tick box next to
  • Wireless Networking off and on to refresh the list.
  • Tap the name of your home wifi network. On the screen prompting you to enter a password, select Forget.

Then on your Kindle> press and hold the power button for 20 seconds and then release. Then when the kindle powers back on>

  • Then try connecting to Wi-Fi
  • Select Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure Wireless Networking switch is in the on position.
  • Your home network should appear in the list.
  • Tap the name of your network. A lock symbol will appear next to your network .
  • Enter the characters of the password ***** the onscreen keyboard.
  • If you need help locating your password ***** me know.
  • Then Tap Connect.

Still will not connect - says "Wi-Fi Error"

Does the correct home wifi network name appear on the kindle?

No, mac. I'm not sure if this matters but the network I'm connected to on my computer is NOT one of the networks showing up on my kindle (using a 5G network on my computer and only non-5G networks show up on my kindle). I tried to connect to one of the non-5G networks on my computer and it didn't work.
