I'm sorry about the issue. Have you tried to press and hold (or slide and hold) the power on / off button / switch on the problematic kindle for about 45 seconds, then turn it back on and check?
- Is there any power / light? Is there anything on the kindle's screen?
- Is there currently any book on the working kindle 2?
- Is the working kindle registered to the same or different Amazon account (email address) as with the problematic kindle?

On the working kindle, can you go to the Menu -> Settings -> Registration (or Account), and see what the email address, if any, is showing there?
- Can you sign in your Amazon account at the website below, and see if your books are there?
