I believe it's a Kindle Fire not sure got it about 4-5 yrs ago as a gift

Good.

Contact Amazon.com here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/kindle-help.html/?nodeId=200127470

and tell them the problem.

They may - if they live up to Amazon.com's excellent reputation - perhaps, ship you a new replacement.

But if they don't, get back to me, please.

Thanks.

Ok Thank-you but this is very disappointing

It's the first thing to try.

Would you like to try a reset of the Kindle first?

If so I will instruct you.
