This sounds like it may have gotten deregistered, you will need to register the Kindle to your Amazon account again.

You can re-register your Kindle through the device itself. Go to the "Settings" menu, select "Register," and then enter your Amazon account email address and password ***** connect your device to your account. Let me know how it goes please.
