Welcome, I am Cory.

Please press in and hold the power button/on switch for 40 seconds to reset the Kindle. Once you have done this, please let me know if the Kindle is working again.

I told you initially that i had tried that - tried it again; the problem remains - kindle will not open new books I have purchased
Expert:  Cory replied 11 months ago.

I understand, but I wanted to make sure you didnt just turn it on and off

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
sounds like a bait and switch
Expert:  Cory replied 11 months ago.

bait and switch?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Well - it sounded as though that if we talked by phone - $20 would be added to the $5 I have already paid and the $23 to be paid at the end of a successful resolution of the problem
Expert:  Cory replied 11 months ago.

Yes, that is correct as phone support is an additional premium service. What you paid as a deposit is for live chat here.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
initially $28 was to a satisfactory resolution, now its $48 - your credibility is zilch - goodby
Expert:  Cory replied 11 months ago.

It's still $28 and we can keep working without phone support.

Let's preform a hard reset.

Please plug in the Kindle for 15 minutes. Once 15 minutes passes, keep it on the charger and hold on button/power switch for 40 seconds to reset it.

Let me know if it is working after this.
