I have a Nook color that has stopped working and suspect it

I have a Nook color that has stopped working and suspect it is the battery. I cannot see any way to open it to search for the battery. It is the one that has the little open area in the lower left hand corner. Thank you for your help. I am lost since I cannot read.

This symptom can indicate several possible issues: an internal hardware failure, a low/faulty battery, or just a simple memory/firmware glitch.

The first step here will be to attempt to reboot the nook. This is done by pressing/sliding and holding the power button for 30+ seconds, then release. Give the nook about a minute to start back up, and let me know if the problem persists, we can then try some further steps, up to and including battery replacement.

The batteries on these though are not really designed to be user serviceable (though it is possible).
