I'm sorry about the issue. What's the model of your ereader device?

What kind of password ***** ***** such as device login password, Wi-Fi/wireless password, account password, etc.?

It is a Barnes & Noble Nook. Login password

Do you know the type of your Barnes & Noble Nook device, such as Original Nook, Nook Color, Nook Simple Touch, Nook tablet, Nook HD, etc.?

And/or please check at the back of the nook device for any model.

Do you mean you cannot open any book or go to menu / settings on the Nook at all?

Just forget it. My granddaughter gave this to me but forgot the password. I can't tell the model

Thank you. Please try the following fix:

Solution #1:

  1. Power off the Nook device. (Press and hold Power On /Off button for about 20 seconds to power off completely.)
  2. With the NOOK color powered off, please press and hold down the n button (home), and Volume Up button and Power Button until the NOOK color powers on. Keep holding these 3 buttons.
  3. Then it will show the Factory Reset screen, then you can release those buttons.
  4. Press the n button.
    ; screen should prompt to confirm.
  5. Press the n button.
  6. A Clearing Data dialog will display. NOOK color will reboot automatically once complete.

Solution #2:

- If it does not work, please try:

  1. Press and hold down Power button for about 20 seconds.
  2. Press and hold down at the same time the n button, and the + / - (Volume Up / Down) buttons at the upper right-hand side, and then press and hold the Power button
  3. Keep holding all those buttons until the "Read Forever" logo appears on the screen, then release the Power button, while continuing to hold the Home and + -, buttons.
  4. The screen will quickly jump colors from black to an orangish color, and then it will prompt you through the Factory Reset process, and continue.
