Screen frozen, slid button and held it seconds then

Screen frozen, slid button and held it for 40 seconds then released it, then slid start button to on position. Nothing happening screen remains frozen. I think the kindle needs to be looked at can you suggest the next step? Regards ***** *****

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.
Remove the charger from the Kindle and hold the power button to off for 60 seconds (40 was too short).
Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the Kindle.
