If you have a wireless router, please disconnect the power cable from it for a couple of minutes, then reconnect.
If you have a leather (or any other) cover on the kindle, please remove it.
Please press/slide & hold the power switch on the kindle for about one minute, or until the screen flickers. Then wait a few minutes for the kindle to turn back on, and check.
If that does not work, please recharge the kindle for about 5 minutes, and while it is charging, press/slide & hold the power switch on the kindle for about one minute again, or until the screen flickers, and check.
If you use Wi-Fi/wireless, please make sure the kindle is connected to Wi-Fi/wireless (from settings/Wi-Fi option on the kindle.)
Please log in your amazon account at the website http://www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle
and then click on the Action tab of each book you want, then deliver to your kindle ereader.
Also, there, click on the kindle payment settings option and check.
If needed, see if you can buy a book on the computer at http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-eBooks/b?ie=UTF8&node=1286228011
Note: if you don't have a Wi-Fi/wireless router, you can download ebooks at the website http://www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle
