For some reason I have lost the item on my menu that allows me to turn the wireless on and off. I have tried everything and am getting nowhere. Please help! Thanks.
Already Tried: 1. Reading general instructions. 2. Pressing every button I could find! 3. Fiddling w/airplane mode on settings. 4. Restarting.
Hi! My name is XXXXX XXXXX X will be assisting you. Please rate my answer quality on the service that I provide. Let's get started!Make sure Airplane mode is set to OFF. If you are still not able to view the Wifi menu then please follow the steps below..Please plug in your Kindle for 5 minutes and hold down the power button for 45 seconds until the Kindle reboots. It can take 2-3 minutes for the complete reboot process. If that does not work then please let me know when you purchased the Kindle
To confirm:
Hi Susan,No keep it plugged into the power and try the 45 seconds hold
That did not work. I still don't have the choice for turning on/off the wireless.
When did you purchase the Kindle?
From Amazon, January 2012.
The good news is that your Kindle is still under warranty and you can receive a replacement! Once you receive the replacement, you can register the Kindle and all of your books will appear again. Please call Amazon here ---> 1-866-321-8851 in the US or 08004962449 in the UK Let them know that your Kindle has hardware issues and you need a replacement
Are you kidding? Have you seen this before? Is it a common problem?
Hi Susan,Yes, I have seen this issue before and it was resolved using the reboot method you tried above. If that did not resolve the issue then your Kindle has a hardware issue. Please remember to only rate my answer when you are 100% satisfied. Please note you are rating my help and not the site or the solution only my help. If you feel the need to rate "POOR SERVICE" or "BAD SERVICE", please stop and reply to me via the Reply To Expert or Continue Conversation button with the issue you have. I will be happy to continue further and do everything I can to provide you with the service you seek.
You did the best you could, but in the meantime I called Amazon to pursue this as you suggested. For your future customers, here is the deal: they recently did a software update. Now, the wireless is tied to airplane mode being on or off, it is no longer on the main menu. Airplane on = wireless OFF. Airplane off = wireless ON. I kind of hate paying the $30 since I have now helped you to help future customers. If you guys are providing tech support, you should probably keep abreast of all changes. Your thoughts??
Susan,The first thing I asked was if Airplane mode is OFF and you stated it was. I can only go by the customers answers since I cannot view the Kindle itself.
I gave you the correct information. It was off. That is not the point. The point is that I needed to know how to control my wireless connectivity. The missing piece was the fact that the decision to connect/disconnect to wireless is no longer given as a choice on the menu but is in settings under airplane mode. That is the answer to the question.
Thank you for the update.Have an amazing afternoon.
