So it is just the standard Kindle, with the keyboard, right?

OK. Press the key that says 'Aa' on it.
Then go down to the 'Screen Rotation' section, and select the orientation you want to use for the screen.

After you press the button on the keyboard that says 'Aa' on it.
Then you will see "Screen Rotation". Just move the highlight using the 5way controller to the one that has the screen set the way you want it.
Experience: I own and have dismantled both the Sony E-Reader, and 2 models of the Kindle.
