I have a Kindle 1. I charged it and turned it on and the words amazon kindle came on and the unit locked up. What do I need to do?
Already Tried: Leaving it on for a while. Turning it off then on at various intervals. Turning it and whisper net on together for a while. Nothing happens.
Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer.Your firmware may be glitched. Try resetting your Kindle by sliding and holding the power switch for 20 seconds. If you have the newest model, it has a push button. Press it and hold it for 20 seconds. Your Kindle operating system should reload within three minutes. If this does not occur or the Kindle still malfunctions, please let me know.
My kindle is the first model. When you slide the power switch on, it stays on. Doesn't have to be held.
Oh. Most people think they have that one and they don't. If that's the case, slide the back off by sliding the cover off to the side. Insert a straightened paper clip into the reset hole shown below.
Didn't work.
You could try the battery, however, I don't think it would resolve the problem but there is a small chance. You have a few options at this point, but repairing it wouldn't be one of my choices due to the cost involved.Contact Kindle Support at(NNN) NNN-NNNN For a trade-in fee, they will ship a replacement out to you. When you receive it, register it to your Kindle account and you will have immediate access to your books in your archives.Another option is just to purchase one brand new for just $79 CLICK HERE if you want information on the new line of Kindles. Your other options are to read your books on other devices using free applications for iPad, iPhone, iTouch, Blackberry, PC, or Mac. If you wish help in doing this let me know.
I have the kindle app on my iPad, but I thought that I had to download a book to my kindle before it would download on my IPad. Am I wrong? If so, then I can just use my IPad and not worry about the Kindle.
You are mistaken. You can absolutely download all books to your iPad without even owning a Kindle. A Kindle is not necessary. ;-)
