I JUST RECEIVED A KINDLE, REGISTERED IT WITH MY AMAZON ACCOUNT AND IT KEEPS SAYING I AMD NOT REGISTERED WHEN I GO TO BUY A BOOK. HOWEVER, IT WOLL NOT LET ME DEREGISTER EITHER.....HELP PLZ

I have windows 7, with linksys wireless-G wi-fi

Please follow the steps below from your computer with Windows 7 connected to internet via wireless and you will see the network key:

1- Click Start

2- Click Control Panel

3- NOW, make sure you select "View by: LARGE ICONS" on the upper right corner.

4- Click "Network and Sharing Center"

5- Click "Manage Wireless Networks" on the left

6- Double click your wireless network name

7- Click the "Security" tab

8- Click "Show characters"

9- Now find your password XXXXX to "Network security key". Write this password XXXXX

Enter this password XXXXX your Kindle when prompted.

OK, you need to register your Kindle from your Amazon.com account, following the steps below:

1- Click here from your computer -----> http://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/fiona/manage/ref=hp_kindle_ss_reg_kindle

2- Enter your amazon.com email and password, then click Sign In.

3- Then click "Register a Kindle" on the left

4- Enter the serial number of your Kindle ( The serial number is XXXXX in the Settings screen under 'Device Info'.)

5- Click Register.

I have already trid that also. It says"Tohnjua, we did not find a Kindle device or reading app registered to your Amazon account that supports this item.

my wireless network name is "stipp".......and i have already tried registering from amazon.com. It says i am registered and even shows my serial number along with my kindle name. However, when i try to buy a book it tells me to register and my kindle says i am not connected.....but when i go to my wireless it shows i AM connected to "stipp" :(

OK. Please follow the steps below to reset the Kindle:

1- Please slide and HOLD the power switch for 20 seconds.

2- After the 20 seconds, release it

3- Wait for the Kindle to restart

ok...i did this. Then i went to my crt, bookstore, and tried buying my book again. When i clicked "buy" it said i had to register first. But my Kindle and Amazon.com BOTH say I am already registered.

yes....I couldn't remember my password XXXXX I had to reset it this morning. My new password XXXXX "xxxxxx" and i used it on my kindle and my amazon account this morning.
