Hi,

The Kindle Fire has a feature called amazon Whispersync - which is basically a cellular data connection that works anywhere in the US. You will be able to purchase and download books even when not connected to WiFi.

Thanks,

J.

You only have wifi with the Kindle Fire. Whispersync is not a wireless signal.

Hi, another expert commented that on the Fire, whispersync CANNOT be used to make purchases - it can only be used to sync your page and to stream video.
The cellular connection can be used to purchase books only on older Kindle models, such as the 2nd generation.

Thanks,

J.
