first of all, if you connect the Kindle to a wifi network, you do not need to connect the Kindle to the computer to download the books you've purchased

anyway, what operative system do you have?

windows 7

how old is your Kindle?

what is a kindle

sorry, my mistake, what eReader do you have?

Customer:

kobo not a touch screen

and it is new

when you connect it to the computer, does the Kobo ask you anything on its screen?

Customer:

no

when you plug it in you should see an option on the Kobo to either manage your library or continue reading. You have to choose the "manage library" option before Windows will see the device.

please disconnect it and try it again

also, use the back USB ports if it is a desktop computer

it is a laptop but i have connected to the back ports

it says connected but I am pretty sure I should see something on my computer thats says I have the program

I cant add books to my library

ok so now what..this is the first time I have seen that

please download the desktop application that you prefer to manage the library

the suggested by Kobo is their own Kobo desktop application (click here)

I think i may have it but it wont let me join my network Is that a problem?

well, do you know name and password XXXXX your network?

Customer:

yes

ok, then why cannot you connect? does it give you any error?

Customer:

no..just says cannot connect

was the network recognised automatically or did you add name and password?

Customer:

it recognized the network but not the key

Customer:

however it is working so i dont know if i need to worry about it

are you sure you input the key correctly?

I will try once more. After I enter the key, whatdo I push ..the middle button?

if it says wireless staus is on does that mean I am good to go?

it means that the wireless is active

but it is not connected until you see dark connection bars on top

ok then I am good and thank you so much. My daughter tried yesterday and she go it going on her PC but not mine so all is well I think do you mean the dark bars ina triangular shape

you need to select join Network after inserting the password
