Kindle indicates empty battery. I connected to outlet, screen doesn't change, kimdle does not charge. I tried my spouse's cord and it does not charge with it either.
Already Tried: trouble shooting advice on line.

The first step is to try to reboot the Kindle. Slide and hold the power switch for 20 seconds. If the Kindle doesn't come back to life, please let me know.

I followed your instruction, nothiing happened. Screen still tells me battery is empty.
We'll try to force a reboot. Plug the Kindle into the wall charger for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes and while still plugged into the charger, slide and hold the power switch until the screen flickers. This could take up to a minute. Let me know if the Kindle fails to reboot.

Unfortunately, it seems your Kindle is broken and out of warranty. Contact Kindle Repair Support at(NNN) NNN-NNNN They provide a flat-rate repair or replace quote. You may want to trade it in and upgrade when you do this. Sorry I couldn't get your Kindle operating, but it's beyond a user level fix.
