Hello, and welcome to JustAnswer!
Does your kindle have a sliding ON/OFF switch?
yeah and it works on the nonfrozen left lower diagonal half...the upper right frozen half stays the same
Did you try a reset on your kindle?
no.. how do i do that?
Slide and hold power button for 20 seconds and release to turn kindle OFF.
Wait for a few seconds.
Now slide and hold power button for 20 seconds and release to re-boot the kindle.
Let me know if problem persists.
i dunno if it actually rebooted, but i did as you suggested the power light did flash when i was holding the button to turn it back on....but it didn't change the screen on the broken half.....stayed frozen the the text that was up when i dropped it
Did it turn OFF first?
yes the non frozen part did, not the upper right diagonal half that is frozen....it has not responded to anything,
I see. So when you SLID AND HELD the power button for 20 seconds, the non-frozen part of screen went OFF but not the frozen part, right?
yes sir
And when you slid and held power button again for 20 seconds, kindle re-booted but without any effect on the frozen part, right?
yes
It seems screen is in problem.
How old is the kindle?
it was a christmas present so less than 3 months old]\
I see. So it is under warranty.
Please contact amazon on the following number, let them know the problem and the steps you have followed to solve the problem.
