Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
Does your kindle have a sliding ON/OFF switch?
yes, it is on now
Let us try a kindle reset as follows:
Slide and hold the power switch for 20 seconds and release to turn it OFF.
Then repeat the above step to re-boot the kindle.
Let me know what do you see when it reboots.
myriad lines across page, obliterating most of the print. When completely off, a vague image is still showing. there is currently a reboot taking place....... Now we are back, but no improvement. Please don't tell me I've lost my beloved kindle.
Did you slide and hold the power switch to do that?
yes, just as instructed. Counted to 20 then counted again. There were signs, sliding scale, that it was reloading, it looks like it's the screen only, everything else seems fine.
Seems the screen has developed the problem. You haven't lost your beloved kindle though.
thank you for that. what now?
Because your kindle is still under warranty, you can get a replacement kindle by calling amazon at the following number.
1-866-321-8851 (toll free)
Tell them the problem and what have you already tried to resolve the problem.
And don't forget to tell them how much you love your kindle.
Soon you will get a new kindle.
is that an american number, i'm calling from the UK? Thanks anyway for trying. I am literally lost without it. I can't bear the thought of going back to paper.
I am sorry for a mistake in the number. Here is the correct one for UK.
Freephone 0800(NNN) NNN-NNNN/p>
bless you. Pass on my thanks. Let's hope the new one is delivered quickly. can I transfer all my 173 books to the new one?
Sure. When the new kindle arrives, you just need to register that kindle with your amazon account and then you can access all your content from amazon.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks. Have a nice day, bye
