I only need the cord--the adapter is okay, I think. Is the adapter the white cord-like thing that hooks into the plug?

The plug is the adapter. The cord is the USB cable that plugs into the adapter, which then plugs into the wall.

Customer :

The cord is all I need and I think my warranty is up.

Ok, you would want to use the "cord only" link above. I still recommend calling Amazon anyway. They will often replace the cord even if the warranty is up. Each situation is different.
